News Summary

Orange City has joined the list of cities permitting the sale of state fire marshal-inspected fireworks for Independence Day celebrations. Local schools and community groups can set up fundraising booths subject to regulations similar to other Orange County cities. Sales will occur from July 1-4, with fireworks discharge allowed only on July 4 from noon to 10 p.m. Safety concerns remain, especially in hilly areas, prompting city officials to emphasize precautions against mishandling. With this initiative, Orange City aims to support local fundraising while ensuring a safe celebratory atmosphere.

Orange City Joins List of Cities Allowing Fireworks Sales for Independence Day 2025

Orange City has officially joined the ranks of cities that will allow the sale of state fire marshal-inspected fireworks, commonly referred to as “safe and sane fireworks.” This decision will enable local community and school groups to set up fundraising booths, which are limited in number and usually allocated through a lottery system. The city will follow similar regulations as other cities in Orange County, creating a structured environment for the sale and use of these fireworks in celebration of Independence Day.

In Orange, fireworks sales will run from noon to 10 p.m. on July 1-3, and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 4. Fireworks can only be discharged on July 4, during the hours of noon to 10 p.m. It is important to note that restrictions exist regarding the discharge of fireworks in hilly areas due to safety concerns.

Safety Precautions and Legal Restrictions

City fire officials have expressed concerns about safety, particularly related to potential hazards when tampering with fireworks. Parents are strongly advised against allowing young children to handle any type of fireworks, even those labeled as safe. Additionally, cities are committed to informing residents of any fines that may be imposed for the use of illegal fireworks, creating a framework to promote safe practices during the festive season.

By permitting the sale and regulated use of safe and sane fireworks, Orange City aims to support local fundraising efforts while also prioritizing the safety of its residents. As the Fourth of July approaches in 2025, the community can look forward to fireworks festivities that are enjoyable, organized, and safe.
