Following her community college education, she completed her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California State University, Fullerton, in May 2025.

In recognition of her achievements, Gutierrez received the 20th Congressional District Merit Award from former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy in 2023, highlighting her contributions to both her academic environment and her community leadership. In addition to her education, Gutierrez gained practical experience through internships. She spent the summer of 2024 interning in Washington, D.C., with Congressman Vince Fong, followed by a district internship in Orange County with Congresswoman Young Kim in the fall of 2024.

Fluently speaking Japanese, a skill developed during her early years living abroad, Gutierrez brings a diverse cultural perspective that may benefit her work in the California State Assembly. She is the daughter of Master Chief Benito Gutierrez, a retired member of the U.S. Navy, and Cora Gutierrez, and has a younger brother named Junior. She is also the granddaughter of Geoff and Gale Shull, who reside in Benson, Arizona.
