Anaheim Police Make Arrests Following Fatal Shootings
A 59-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at a motel in Anaheim, which occurred over the weekend. The suspect, identified as Amir Karkehabadi, is charged with murder following the incident that took place on Saturday evening.
The shooting occurred around 6:15 p.m. at the Villa Inn, located in the 700 block of South Beach Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim in his 60s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, the victim was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after the shooting. A handgun was recovered at the scene, which is now part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that Karkehabadi was arrested at the Villa Inn and booked on suspicion of murder. The investigation surrounding the circumstances of the shooting is still active, and police are urging anyone with pertinent information to reach out to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-0227.
Another Fatal Shooting Under Investigation
In a separate incident, Anaheim police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man named Kenneth Wayne Swets. Swets was discovered shot multiple times while inside his vehicle around 8:42 p.m. on Sunday in the 2000 block of South Margie Lane. Responding officers pronounced him dead at the scene.
A close friend of Swets expressed shock at the incident as they had known each other since high school. Police are currently canvassing the area to gather evidence and identify a motive for Swets’ murder; however, they have not released any information regarding possible suspects.
Recent Shooting Victim Found Dead
Adding to the violence in the area, another tragic incident involved a 48-year-old woman named Charlene Lynn Zuazo, who was found dead inside her car near Cypress and Vine streets. She suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was also pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary reports suggest that Zuazo crashed her car half a mile from the original shooting scene after fleeing the area.
Three days after the incident, Jerry Gutierrez, an 18-year-old from Cudahy, was arrested for Zuazo’s murder. He was taken into custody without any complications and has been booked for murder at the Anaheim Police Department. The motive behind Zuazo’s murder remains under investigation, and it is still unclear whether she had any prior connection to Gutierrez.
Public Assistance Requested
Both the cases involving Kenneth Wayne Swets and Charlene Lynn Zuazo are ongoing investigations, and Anaheim police are actively seeking tips from the public to assist in solving these tragic shootings. A spokesperson stated that understanding the motives behind these incidents is a top priority for law enforcement.
The Anaheim community is urged to remain vigilant as police continue their investigations into these tragic events. Residents with any information regarding the shootings are encouraged to contact the police department to help bring closure to the victims’ families.
