Anaheim

A series of brazen jewelry store robberies in Anaheim has raised concerns among business owners and law enforcement. Recently, multiple stores, including Al-Amira Jewelry and Don Roberto Jewelry, have been targeted by armed gangs employing aggressive tactics to steal merchandise.

On July 17, a robbery attempt at Al-Amira Jewelry saw the store owner resorting to a warning shot to fend off a gang of over a dozen masked thieves. The incident occurred shortly before the store was scheduled to close, when the assailants attempted to break through the establishment’s bulletproof front door using pickaxes and sledgehammers. The store owner reported feeling an imminent threat and managed to defend both himself and his property in the critical moments immediately following the assault.

Anaheim police are actively investigating the incident and are currently working to identify the suspects involved. At this time, law enforcement officials have at least one license plate number linked to the robbers’ vehicles available for their inquiries. As of the latest updates, no arrests have been made.

Following the dramatic events at Al-Amira Jewelry, Don Roberto Jewelry experienced its second robbery in less than two weeks on July 22. Four masked robbers armed with hammers broke into the store at approximately 3 p.m. and fled the scene in a green Dodge Charger. The quick and forceful entry resulted in minor injuries to a customer who was pushed aside during the incident.

Prior to the recent robbery, Don Roberto Jewelry had also been the target of an earlier heist on July 15, involving eight suspects who escaped in two separate vehicles. That incident led to a police pursuit, culminating in the arrest of four juveniles and one adult. Despite ongoing repairs from the first robbery, the second incident hit the store hard, prompting concerns over the safety of employees and customers alike.

Police Sgt. Matt Sutter from the Anaheim Police Department noted a disturbing trend of jewelry store robberies in the region. Many of these incidents involve large groups of suspects overpowering store employees to steal significant quantities of merchandise. Other local jewelry stores are also reporting similar patterns of theft, with one incident at Besan Jewelry involving suspects crashing a car directly into the store, resulting in approximately $50,000 worth of stolen inventory.

Amid the spike in robberies, investigators are urging anyone with information regarding these or any other related incidents to come forward and contact the Anaheim Police Department. The ongoing threats to jewelry stores pose a challenge not only to business owners striving to maintain security but also to the safety and well-being of their customers.

With police efforts underway, community members remain vigilant in hopes of restoring safety to local retail environments. The string of violent robberies signals not only a high risk for jewelry businesses in Anaheim but also a need for enhanced security measures and public awareness.
