Disneyland attraction undergoing refurbishment.

News Summary

In preparation for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration, several attractions at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will undergo temporary closures in July for maintenance. Key attractions such as Star Tours, Incredicoaster, and Pixar Pal-A-Round will be shut down along with others as part of the routine refurbishment schedule. Disneyland emphasizes the importance of these closures for both safety and maintenance, ensuring a top-tier experience for guests during the upcoming celebrations.

Anaheim, California — Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will temporarily close seven attractions in July as part of their annual refurbishment schedule leading up to Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration on July 17. This significant event marks a milestone for the iconic theme park.

The attractions that will be closed for maintenance include:

  • Star Tours
  • Incredicoaster
  • Pixar Pal-A-Round
  • Storybook Land Canal Boats
  • Casey Jr. Circus Train
  • Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
  • Main Street Cinema

The closures come in addition to other planned refurbishments that include:

  • Matterhorn Bobsleds
  • Enchanted Tiki Room
  • Pixie Hollow
  • Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln

The Pixar Pal-A-Round will be shut down from July 14 to July 24 for seasonal refurbishment. The Main Street Cinema will close on July 15 and 16 to install the new “Last Verse” video, which pays tribute to the late Disney songwriter Richard Sherman, set to debut on the anniversary date.

The Incredicoaster is scheduled for closure on July 28, while the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is expected to shut down on July 21. Both attractions may remain closed into early August. In addition, the Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train will be closed starting on July 21 and July 28, respectively, with both likely unavailable until at least early August.

Meanwhile, Star Tours in Tomorrowland is set to close on June 30 for an extended refurbishment that is expected to last into early August or longer. In contrast, the Pixie Hollow meet-and-greet area will reopen on June 29 after being closed since September, and the Enchanted Tiki Room will resume operations on July 2 following necessary repairs.

The highly popular Matterhorn Bobsleds, which has been under refurbishment since May, is anticipated to remain closed until early August. The Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln show, however, is not expected to return until fall 2026 after the conclusion of the Disneyland 70th anniversary celebration. In its place, “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” will premiere on July 17 and will rotate with the earlier attraction.

Disneyland has communicated that the ongoing ride closures are crucial for both maintenance and safety, ensuring that all attractions are in optimal working order for guests. This year has seen a record number of attractions scheduled for closure, a direct result of the timing with the significant anniversary events.

This seasonal refurbishment is not only a standard practice aimed at maintaining the quality and safety of attractions but also plays a significant role in preparing for Disneyland’s high-profile anniversary celebrations. The closures, while an inconvenience for some guests, are necessary to uphold the park’s reputation for delivering exceptional experiences.
