News Summary

Bob, a beloved family man and committed community volunteer, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of compassion. With over 25 years of service as a Scoutmaster and extensive volunteering efforts, he touched many lives. His love for baseball and storytelling is also remembered through his podcast. Bob’s funeral service will take place at the Anaheim United Methodist Church, inviting the community to honor his life and contributions.

Anaheim, California – Bob, a cherished family man and dedicated community volunteer, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service. He died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, marking the end of a life deeply committed to family, youth mentorship, and community enrichment.

Bob was a devoted husband to Julia for 61 years, a loving father to Robert and Cheryl, and a proud grandfather to Rachel, Andrew, and Christina. He also delighted in the joy of being a great-grandfather to Genevieve, Emerson, and Theodore. Family gatherings brought him immense happiness, as he treasured moments spent with his loved ones.

Throughout his life, Bob believed in the importance of serving others. He made significant contributions to youth development as the Scoutmaster of his son’s troop, actively participating in the Scouting program for over 25 years. His commitment to nurturing the next generation was evident in the countless hours he dedicated to organizing events and activities that instilled values of teamwork and leadership in young scouts.

In addition to his involvement with Scouting, Bob was a passionate volunteer at Second Harvest Food Bank, where he first started as a volunteer before eventually securing a full-time position. He fully embraced the organization’s mission to alleviate hunger within the community. After retiring, Bob continued his dedication to service by volunteering at the food pantry of the Anaheim United Methodist Church, regularly helping those in need through this vital community resource.

Bob’s interests extended beyond community service; he was an avid baseball fan with a longstanding dream to visit all Major League Baseball stadiums. His deep love for the sport was intertwined with his passion for storytelling, which led him to produce a Baseball History podcast. The podcast, consisting of 429 episodes, captured the rich history of the game while expressing his enthusiasm for baseball and its impact on American culture.

The community is invited to pay their respects at a funeral service scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Anaheim United Methodist Church. Attendees will have the opportunity to celebrate Bob’s life and the positive influence he had on others. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to support the Anaheim United Methodist Church food pantry, ensuring that Bob’s spirit of giving continues. Donations can conveniently be made online, selecting “Neighbors Pantry / Food Ministries.”

Bob’s passing is a profound loss, not only for his family and friends but also for the communities he served. His legacy is one that highlights the importance of family, volunteerism, and a passion for life. All who knew him will remember him as a gentle soul who dedicated his life to making a difference in the lives of others.
